We believe that God has endowed each person with specific gifts and talents. Each person is a unique creation of God's hand, and thus each of us is precious in His sight. These gifts and talents must be cultivated and used in order for men and women to live with a sense of fulfillment and destiny. The Lord has provided the perfect pattern in the Scriptures relative to the utilization of talents in His church. This vehicle or pattern alluded to is known as the Ministry of Helps. In I Cor 12:28 we read, "and God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then the gifts of healings, helps administrations, varieties of tongues."
The Helps ministries are really the "backbone" of local church advancement. God has never intended for the Pastor and his wife, or even the church leadership team, to be the only ones to carry the load of ministry. The Lord intends for every one of His people to be involved, we each need to bear our portion of the burden in order for our local church to advance and prosper according to the plan of God, (Gal 6:2).
In the Old Testament, the Biblical precedent was set concerning healthy ministry load distribution. In Exodus 18, we see that Moses was nearly being crushed under the weight of extensive and demanding counseling loads, Upon seeing the destructive future of this dilemma, Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, provided a suggestion which was God-inspired and ultimately served as a ministerial and physical "life-saver" for Moses. Jethro's suggestion is found in Ex 18:19-23. He said to Moses, "Moreover, you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them (the congregation or multitudes) to be rulers (teachers) of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you."
God's people are to be equipped and released to do the work of the ministry by local church leadership. This is one of the primary responsibilities of church leadership - the training up of the church, (Eph 4:11 -12). The ministry of Helps structure, provided by, and in the local church, is God's plan to further the vision of the local assembly because of a healthy, broadened ministry base. The larger one's footing and foundation (ministry base) stretches, the more extensive the actual building (church) can be. We, as a local church, are committed to building and making accessible a multi-faceted and multi-dimensional ministry of helps program. We firmly believe this to be the plan of God for the church and for the believer in order that "...every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causing growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love", (Eph 4:16).
